The United Nations Association of Ghana (UNAGH) has paid a courtesy call on his Royal Majesty, Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II on Sunday, 5th February 2023. The UNAGH was received as special guest of the Asantehene as part of the grand celebration of the first Akwasidae festival.
Delegates from the National Secretariat of the UNAGH who met with the Asantehene were His Excellency Bishop Dr. Peter Kojo Sackey, National President, Her Excellency Nana Dr. Ama Amisa III, National Vice President, H.E Wilberforce Andrews National Financial Officer, H.E Stephen Kojo Sackey, National Coordinator and International Relations Officer.
UNAGH Regional Executives from Ashanti Region who were part of the delegation were Hon. Apostle Dr. Isaac Minta Buabeng, Regional Chairman, Hon. Catherine E. A Korankye, Regional Secretary, Hon., Patrick Osei Danquah, Regional Coordinator, Hon. Odo Serwaah Anima Apaw, Women’s Organiser, Hon. Margaret Osei Debrah, Deputy Women’s Organiser, Hon. Christopher Dapaah, Fundraising Officer, Hon. Daniel Brobbey, Membership Officer, Hon. Daniel Twumasi Ababio, Deputy Artisan Officer, Hon. Collins Affum, Deputy Organiser, Hon. Edward Nimoh Program Officer, Hon. Philip Addo Bempong, Youth Organiser.
Also present were Hon. Nana Osei Kyeretwie Acting Patron of UNAGH Bono Region and Hon. Mrs Rita Osei Kyeretwie, Coordinator, Bono Region.
The President of United Nations Association-Ghana, Bishop Dr. Peter Kojo Sackey, introduced the National and Ashanti Regional Executives to His Royal Majesty Otumfo Osei Tutu II.
He said the United Nations Association of Ghana seeks to promote the UN agenda in all its dealings. In particular, the UNA-GH would embark on peace-building initiatives and embark on projects aimed at empowering the rural communities. The organization will initiate viable agric projects which seek to foster sustainable financial self-sufficiency to marginalised farmers in the region as well provide food security. This he believed will contribute to improving the livelihoods of people in the region.
The UNAGH also praised His Royal Majesty Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II for his remarkable and exemplary leadership which has been acclaimed globally. He used the opportunity to reiterate the decision to confer on His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II the Patron of UNAGH.
The Akwasidae durbar also saw Chiefs, Queen mothers, Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Mayor, Heads of Security Services, Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the media and people from all walks of life. The event witnessed the coronation of English Actor with Ghanaian mother, Idris Elba as a Prince of the Ashanti Kingdom.
